Track & Field Starts the 2009 Season at the UNC Classic Saturday

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern track & field program gets its 2009 indoor schedule underway at the UNC Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C. Saturday.
The Lady Eagles will face 34 other teams including seven teams from the Southern Conference. Georgia Southern will look to start the year off with a great finish against an impressive field but will need to rely on its experienced depth to do so.
This year's team features six seniors including: Ashley Bush-Hardy (Fayetteville, Ga.), Shauntel Jennings (Stone Mountain, Ga.), Jasmine Lighting (Dacula, Ga.), Kristin Olson (Senoia, Ga.), London Ryles (Decatur, Ga.) and Courtney Ware (Indianapolis, Ind.). Head coach Natalie Smith will also have 11 newcomers with which to work.
Saturday's schedule starts at 10:00 a.m. with the long jump, weight throw, high jump and pole vault events.
The day's activities will conclude at 8:10 p.m. with the 4X400 relay.
The track & field squad will return to indoor action next Friday at the Niswonger Classic in Johnson City, Tenn.
