STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Athletic Department is pleased to announce the academic progress of its student-athletes. During the fall 2008 semester, 166 student-athletes earned a 3.0 gradepoint average or better.
Members of all 15 varsity sports are represented on the list of student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Georgia Southern's student-athlete success did not end at the 3.0 GPA mark. They also were represented on both the Dean's and President's Lists.
The President's List which honors those students who earn a 4.0 GPA during the semester, held 22 student-athletes.
Eleven of Georgia Southern's varsity sports were represented on the President's List, with the football team placing the most student-athletes on the list. Swimming & Diving, Baseball and Women's Basketball tied for third with three student-athletes each.
Georgia Southern also had 58 student-athletes named to the Dean's List which includes those students with GPAs ranging from 3.5-3.99.
Student-Athletes from 14 different varsity sports were represented on the Dean's List. Baseball had nine representatives on the list which was the most of any sport. Softball came in second with eight student-athletes.
