Khadija Talley finished an outstanding playing career at Miami and returns home to Georgia to serve as throws coach at Georgia Southern for head coach Natalie Smith.
"We are so fortunate to have added Khadija to our staff as our throws coach," said Smith. "She is an exceptional young lady with so much knowledge not only about the throws but about the sport of track and field itself. I am a firm believer in hiring coaches that have had success in their career as well as in the classroom and Khadija brings both of these attributes to the table. She will be a very active part of our recruiting and I look forward to working with her this season."
Talley participated in the 2008 Olympic Trials and finished 10th in discus and 12th in the shot put.
Her senior season was a stellar one as Talley was named 2008 Southeast Regional Athlete of the Year. Talley was a 2008 outdoor discus All-American and the 2008 ACC discus champion. She holds the Miami school record for discus with a throw of 57 feet 10 inches. She was named to the All-ACC team in both shot put and weight throws.
In her junior season Talley finished first in the shot put at the Miami Elite Invitational (52-00.00) and the Georgia Tech Invitational (54-00.00). She also placed first in the discuss throw at the ACC Outdoor Championships (174-06) and the Florida Relays (168-08.75).
She broke the school-record in the discus with a throw of 54.94 meters at the Pepsi Invitational (4/1/06) during her sophomore season. Talley earned All-ACC honors in the discus and shot put with a pair of third place finishes at the ACC Outdoor Championships that season.
