Statesboro, Ga. -- GSU fans are invited to join thousands from around the country in showing their true colors this coming Friday, Aug. 29, for the fourth annual College Colors Day celebration.
Eagle fans are asked to wear blue and gold to work or around town Friday to join in this annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that makes the college experience great by encouraging people to wear apparel of their favorite college or university through the day.
Additionally, College Colors Day, which coincides with “back to school” and the kickoff of intercollegiate athletics, strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness, and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities, acknowledging their fundamental importance.
College Colors Day is the inspiration of the Collegiate Licensing Company and some of their marketing plans for the event include: standup signs of Toby Keith promoting College Colors Day in college bookstores across the country; a partnership with NCAA Football; and proclamations from Governors across the U.S., proclaiming Friday as College Colors Day in their respective state.
Two College Colors Day Kickoff games will be played on Thursday (N.C. State at South Carolina and Oregon State at Stanford). The College Colors Day logo will be on the field for both games which will be televised by ESPN and ESPN2. In addition, Rice will host the third annual College Colors Day Classic football game against SMU on Friday.
