Special Olympics (Area 13) Holds Summer Games

More than 200 athletes from Bulloch, Emanuel, Evans, Screven, and Tattnall county schools, as well as United Cerebral Palsy and JenCo adult service centers, will compete in the festivities. Athletes will compete in the long jump, softball skills, tennis throw, shot put, soccer skills, and various track related events.
The mission of Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The Special Olympics is quickly becoming a focal point of the Georgia Southern Student-Athlete Advisory Board as more than 200 GSU student-athletes will contribute their time and efforts to make the event possible. Every participant will have a GSU student-athlete that will be their coach for the day.
