Track & Field Concludes Second Day at the Shamrock Invitational

CONWAY, S.C. ? Georgia Southern's track & field team garnered six top-15 finishes during the second day of competition at the Shamrock Invitational on Friday, at the CCU Track in Conway.
Sophomore Demetrise Anthony (Manchester, Ga.) recorded a preliminary time of 12.06 in the 100m, which was the fourth best time during the qualifying round. Teammates Shamyria Ortiz (Newnan, Ga.) and Tierra Watts (Albany, Ga.) finished ninth and 13th respectively during the prelims racing to times of 12.33 and 12.50.
Senior Amber Wilson (Calhoun, Ga.) and Kristin Olson (Senoia, Ga.) earned times of 15.01 and 15.14 during the prelims of the 100m hurdles. Wilson's time earned her a spot in Saturday's finals.
The Eagles finished fifth and eighth respectively in the 4x200m relay, as Anthony, Ortiz, Dominique Thurman (Riverdale, Ga.) and Watts cruised to a time of 1:41.72.
The Shamrock Invitational concludes on Saturday, March 22, at the CCU Track. Due to time constraints on Friday, the women's javelin was moved to Saturday and will kick off the field events competition at 9 a.m. Track events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
