at 1971 World Cup International Gymnastics Championships capturing first place in the parallel bars where he performed original movement (glide-kip, back-straddle, cut-catch-to-support) later named "Takei" by the Federation of International Gymnastics. Born October 9, 1945 in Manchuria. Earned Maters degree from Georgia Southern in 1972. Coached at California State University Long Beach from 1973 to 1985. Had individuals qualify for NCAA Division I Championships in nine of his 12 years. Led team to top three finish every season in the Pacific Coast Athletic Association.
