Wes Wilhoite, a former student manager for Georgia Southern athletics, has been hired as the assistant athletics equipment manager. The athletic department announced the hiring Tuesday (Feb. 12).
Wilhoite is no stranger to Georgia Southern athletics. The Statesboro native continues his career as a part of Eagle athletics after playing football for one year then serving as a student manager from 2004 to 2006. Wilhoite's current job duties will include assisting in the ordering, issuing, maintaining, and repairing of all athletic equipment used in Georgia Southern athletics. As well as assisting with practice and game preparation for the Georgia Southern football team.
Last year Wilhoite worked with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons as an equipment manager intern. With the Falcons Wilhoite handled such duties as team laundry, setting up the field for practice, packing for home and away games, preparing locker room for pre, halftime and post game meetings, in addition to break down of facilities following games.
Wilhoite is the son of Arnie (Hanner Fieldhouse facilities supervisor) and Laura Wilhoite.
