Webb Named SoCon 'Freshman of the Week'

STATESBORO, Ga. ? E.J. Webb (Roanoke, VA/Fleming/Fork Union Military) became the second straight Georgia Southern University football player to receive the Southern Conference ?Freshman of the Week' award. The league office announced the award Monday morning (Sept. 24).

The freshman linebacker joins teammate Zeke Rozier in receiving the honor in consecutive weeks.

Webb led the Eagles defense with eight tackles and two pass break ups while sharing a tackle for a loss in the 45-38 overtime loss to Chattanooga. He overtook the team lead with 16 tackles this season.

The Eagles continue their three-game homestand this Saturday (Sept. 29) against Western Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and the game will be televised live on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast.
