Jamey Newsome is in his third year as assistant women's soccer coach after joining the program in 2007.
In addition to coaching responsibilities, Newsome's duties include recruiting, travel and video analysis.
Prior to his current duties, Newsome served two years as the Assistant Director at Darlington Soccer Academy in Rome, Ga. before working a three-year stint at Cannons Soccer Club. While with CSC, Newsome served as the Technical Director for two years, and later as Director of Coaching for one year.
Newsome gained his first collegiate coaching experience at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C. as the assistant men's soccer coach, helping lead the Spartans to a 12-3-3 record and finishing the season ranked No. 16 in the nation.
He also coached for two years at Madison High School in Marshall, N.C.
Newsome was a part of the Georgia Olympic Development Program staff, the Georgia District Training staff, and currently holds a US Soccer Federation “B” coaching license.
As a student-athlete, he was a four-year starter at Mars Hill College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 1997.
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Newsome is married to the former Jennifer Schommer, and the two have a daughter, Mary Ryan Newsome, born April 8, 2008. They also have a pair of cats (Moe and Arjuna) and one dog (Steve).
