
Former Eagle Kicker Named to NFL Pro Bowl

STATESBORO, Ga. ? Former Georgia Southern kicker Rob Bironas was named to the AFC Pro Bowl Team, announced by the National Football League office. Bironas will be making his first Pro Bowl appearance, representing the Tennessee Titans.
The Pro Bowl will take place on February 10th at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
Bironas, who lettered for Georgia Southern in 2000 and is one of three Titans on the AFC squad, leads the NFL with 31 field goals made (in 35 attempts). He has kicked a season-best 56-yard field goal, currently 3-of-4 from 50-yards and beyond this season. Bironas has also converted 26-of-26 extra points.
Earlier this season Bironas kicked an NFL-record eight field goals, including the game-winner as time expired, to lead the Titans to a 38-36 win over the Houston Texans. Bironas' last two field goals were from 29 yards and he connected from 52, 43, 25, 21, 30 and 28 yards to break the previous record of seven field goals. Bironas also kicked two extra points and set the NFL record for most points by a kicker with 26.
