STATESBORO,
Foster earned his third ?Offensive Player of the Week' award, this week sharing it with Armanti Edwards of Appalachian State. Foster also received the weekly honor on September 10 and 17. For the second straight week Hartley was named ?Special Teams Player of the Week' and also received the honor for the third time this year (Oct. 8).
The senior quarterback rushed for a career-high 279 yards (on 28 carries) and three touchdowns, while throwing for another 57 yards and returning a punt 14 yards. For the fourth time in his career Foster broke off an 80-plus yard TD run, 82 yards just two plays into the game. During the game he set two SoCon records ? most rushing yards in a quarter (174 in the 1st) and in a half (232 in the first half) ? against a Terrier team that was leading the league in fewest rushing yards allowed at 117.
Following his record-setting performance, Foster broke his own GS standard for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a game set earlier this year and with 1,567 yards this season stands 35 shy of matching the NCAA FCS season record.
Hartley converted all five extra point attempts but saved his biggest kick for last, a 44-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter which proved to be the game-winner. This year Hartley has converted 15-of-19 field goals, tying for third-most in a season and just two away from Tim Foley's season record. He has also converted 41-of-41 extra points this season as well.
The Eagles (7-2 overall, 4-2 SoCon) play host to Furman this Saturday (Nov. 10), and can capture at least a share of their ninth conference title with a win. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and will be televised live on SportSouth.
