STATESBORO, Ga. ? Georgia Southern Football will host six games at Paulson Stadium during the 2008 season, as announced by Director of Athletics Sam Baker. The 2008 football schedule, approved Wednesday (Nov. 28) by the University Athletics Committee, also features a season-opening contest at Georgia.

The Eagles are coming off a 7-4 campaign under first-year head coach Chris Hatcher. The four-win increase from the previous season is the second-best improvement in program history.

Georgia Southern opens the 2008 campaign on August 30th at Georgia. It marks the fourth meeting in the in-state series, and first since the 2004 season.

Starting September 6th, Georgia Southern will be at Paulson Stadium for the entire month of September. The stretch begins with the first-ever meeting against Austin Peay of the Ohio Valley Conference. In the first year of its return as a full-scholarship program, APSU posted a 7-4 overall record and 5-3 in the OVC. The following weekend the Eagles square off against Northeastern. GSU opened the 2005 season with an overtime victory in Boston against the Huskies.

Southern Conference play begins September 20th against Elon. The four-game homestand concludes on September 27th as conference co-champion and NCAA quarterfinalist Wofford travels to Paulson Stadium.

Georgia Southern travels to Chattanooga on October 4th, then will have its bye week before facing conference co-champion Appalachian State (another NCAA quarterfinalist) on October 18th at Paulson Stadium.

The Eagles welcome new SoCon member Samford on November 8th. That game, the fourth overall meeting with the Bulldogs and first since 1990, is also Homecoming Weekend. Georgia Southern closes out the regular season November 15th at Furman.
