Harris Captures Second Place with Personal Best in High Jump

CLEMSON, S.C. – Freshman Keyanna Harris turned in a personal best mark with a 1.65 (5'5") in the High Jump elite section at the Tiger Paw Invitational on the first day of the two-day meet. Teammate Amber Vaughn, who also competed in the elite section of the High Jump, tied her personal best performance with a 1.55 (5'1"), matching her effort at the Orange & White Winter Classic at this same facility in December 2012.
High marks in the High Jump weren't the only highlights of the day. Senior Sara Curry took ninth place in the invite-only 5,000m race with a time of 19:07.53. Jasmine Walker placed 12th overall with a 5.27m distance in the Long Jump, just inches short of a top-10 finish. Senior Ebony Carter narrowly missed qualifying for the 60m Dash finals in the Invitational section, but posted her second-best time of the season with a 7.70. With one of her top-three times of the indoor season, Jasmine Billings was also up against some tough competition in the 60m Hurdles (9.09) elite section, as the Eagles were among more than 600 competitors in the women's events.
In the Weight Throw, Alexis Jacobs and Kelsey Chandler finished within two spots of each other, but both under their performances from their last trip to Clemson. Jacobs posted a 12.10m (39'8") and Chandler a 11.73m (38'6") distance.
The Tiger Paw Invitational continues Saturday morning as the Eagles competing in the Shot Put and Triple Jump begin their events at 10. The 60m Dash preliminaries start the racing events at 11 a.m. with the final women's event of the day, the 4X400m Relay, set for Saturday at 6:45 p.m. Results are posted soon after the conclusion of each event at timinginc.com.
