Started men's and women's gymnastics program at Georgia Southern in 1960. Was Assistant Professor of Physical Education and coach from 1960 to 1965. Chairman of United States Women's Olympic Gymnastic Committee from 1956 to 1964. National AAU chairman in 1962. Was the first NAIA National Gymnastics Chairman. Coached the U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Italy. Coached in the World Games in 1962 at Prague, Czechoslovakia. Appointed member of U.S. Men's Olympic Gymnastics Committee from 1964 to 1968. Born October 20, 1922, in St. Francis Mission, South Dakota on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. Coached and taught at Sam Houston State and San Jacinto College. Elected to the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1987. Inducted to the United States Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1988.
