Originally from Elberton, Ga., Chester Webb is perhaps one of Georgia Southern's most prolific basketball players in the history of the program ...Enjoyed outstanding career from 1952 to 1956 ... Served as team captain in 1953 ... Ranks as the program's all-time (2,542 points) and single-season (883 points) scoring leader ... Averaged 30.5 points per contest as a senior in 1955-56, becoming the only Georgia Southern player ever to record a scoring average more than 30 points per game in a single season ... Owner of the highest career scoring average in the annals of the team (24.0 ppg) ... Also possesses school career standards for field goals made (883), free throws made (776) and rebounds (1,685) ... Tops single-season list in field goals made (291), free throws made (301) and rebounds (524) ... Holds the school mark record for consecutive free throws made in a game (21) and season (31) ... Authored six of Georgia Southern's top 10 individual scoring games, including a pair of 47-point efforts against Piedmont on Jan. 23, 1956 and Feb. 18, 1956 ... Also scored 45 vs. Stetson on Dec. 1, 1955 ... Led Professors in total points, points per game and games played in during the 1954, 1955 and 1956 seasons ... Uniform number is 22, which was retired in a halftime ceremony on January 30, 2010.
