Donated $1-million toward the construction of the Georgia Southern football stadium which carries his name. Added $350,000 to create a challenge fund when additional money was needed to complete the stadium. Born April 22, 1922, in Clinton, Iowa. Attended Iowa State Teachers College and continued his education in electrical engineering at West Virginia University. Served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of the world's largest privately owned aircraft manufacturing company, Gulfstream America Company. Founded the California Airmotive Corporation and reorganized it as Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. He manages an aircraft manufacturing organization encompassing 1.7 million square feet of facilities and more than 3,500 employees producing the world's largest twin engine corporate jet. In 1981, he obtained the Commander Jetprop business aircraft manufacturing facilities in Oklahoma from the Rockwell International Corporation.
