STATESBORO, Ga. – The 2018 women's tennis team opened up their home season this afternoon with a meeting against Charlotte. The 49ers started the afternoon quickly in doubles play, winning on court three to level the score at 1-1. Lindsay Truscott and Ella Monsey battled on court one to lengthen the match. The Eagles broke Charlotte at four all, but the 49ers would win the doubles point.

In singles play the Eagles began quickly being up on four courts early. Arianne de Winter put the pressure on Tai Martin, winning the first set 6-0. Martin would continue to battle with de Winter winning the second and third sets. Emilia Bujan gave the Eagles their first point of the afternoon with a straight set victory on court two. Bujan defeated Alexandra Lee 6-3, 6-2.

Charlotte van Diemen added the second point for the Blue and White with a straight set victory on court six. Van Diemen defeated Gabriela Gonzalez 6-3, 6-2 to give the Eagles their second point. The Eagles will be back in action Sunday morning with a 10:00 a.m. match against Florida A&M.
