Eagles Venture Out West for Washington State Tournament

Women's soccer will face off against Montana and Washington State this weekend

STATESBORO, Ga. – Following a 1-0-1 weekend for the Eagles, the women's soccer team will travel to Pullman, Washington, to compete in the Washington State Tournament. The tournament plays host to Montana, No. 14 Nebraska, Washington State, and the Eagles. This will be the first time the program has traveled to compete on the West Coast.

The Eagles enter play with a 2-1-1 record after competing in the Mercer Tournament this past weekend. The Eagles drew with Kennesaw State on Friday and defeated Siena, after a flurry of first half goals, 3-0. Juvenia Hylton, Sarah Price, and Nicole Aussin all tallied their first goals of the season, as Lauren Karinshak continued to thrive in net for the Eagles.

SCOUTING MONTANA
The Grizzly's enter the weekend with a 3-1-0 record, after defeating Boise State, Air Force, and San Jose State. The lone blemish on their record came in the form of a 2-0 loss to Utah State. The team has accumulated a .457 shot on goal percentage and recorded 5 assists. Taryn Miller leads the team with a goal, assist, and 3 points, while Claire Howard has 7 saves between the pipes for Montana.
 
SCOUTING WASHINGTON STATE
The Cougars host the Washington State Tournament this weekend with a 1-1-1 record. To open the season Washington State forced a draw against No. 19 Minnesota in the friendly confines of Pullman, Washington. Their lone win came against Saint Mary's in a 1-0 victory at home. In the only road test of the season thus far, the Cougars fell to Santa Clara 2-1. Maddie Haro and Grace Hancock have stood out for the Cougars so far this season, as they have both score goals in previous games. Ella Dederick has tallied 8 saves, while the team has averaged .321 shots on goal.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Friday will be the first meeting between Georgia Southern and Montana.
Sunday will be the first meeting between Georgia Southern and Washington State.
 
NEXT UP
The Eagles will have the week off, before returning to action in Conference play. The Blue and White will travel to Coastal Carolina on Friday, September 15 at 7:00 PM.
