STATESBORO, Ga. – On Friday the Eagles will begin a four match road trip to conclude the road portion of the season. The Eagles will fly to Jackson, Mississippi to compete against Jackson State, before heading to Monroe, Louisiana to face off against Sun Belt Conference opponent ULM. The blue and white enter play with a 9-7 record and opened Sun Belt play this past weekend.
Â
"We have two great opportunities ahead of us this weekend," Head coach
Michele Stanford said. "Although we do not have a history with Jackson State, ULM is one of our fellow Sun Belt rivals. It will be very important for us to stay tough and play smart tennis against each of these teams. As we get into the heat of spring season, every match is going to be tough. That is what makes this time of year so exciting, and I know that our players are ready for the challenge."
Â
Jackson State is an unfamiliar foe for the Eagles, and enter play with a 7-7 record. The Tigers began the season dropping six of the first eight matches they played. They would turn the season around winning five of their next six matches heading into Fridays match versus the Eagles.
Â
Saturday's match against the ULM Warhawks will be the third Sun Belt Conference match for the Eagles this season. The Warhawks enter play with a 9-1 record falling to only Auburn early in the season. ULM is a perfect 3-0 inside the Heard Stadium, and posts a 2-0 record in conference play. The Warhawks were scheduled to compete against UT-Arlington last Saturday, but that was postponed due to weather in the area.

LAST TIME OUT
Â
Last time out Georgia Southern women's tennis hosted the Sun Belt Pod weekend, welcoming five different Sun Belt Conference Universities. The schools invited included South Alabama, Georgia State, Troy, Coastal Carolina, and Appalachian State. Throughout the weekend each school played a total of two matches, with the Eagles facing off against South Alabama and Georgia State. On Saturday the blue and white took to the courts to face off against South Alabama. The Jaguars would handle the early Eagles pressure and go on to defeat the Eagles 6-1.
Lindsay Truscott would give the Eagles the lone point following her victory on court three. Following a switch in schedule all matches were moved up to prevent any weather postponing matches. Sunday the Eagles faced off against instate rival Georgia State. The Panthers would defeat the Eagles 4-0, on route to a undefeated weekend.
