NEW ORLEANS ā The Georgia Southern women's tennis team closes out their 2015-16 season at the Sun Belt Tournament in New Orleans this weekend, playing first against No.5 Troy.

The Eagles, who are seeded fourth in the tournament, hold a 12-8 record with one of those wins being against first-round opponent Troy.Ā
Ā
"There is no doubt that for our first match against Troy, we will have to remain focused and battle hard for every point," head coach
Michele Stanford said. "It is going to be very important that we show up not only physically prepared, but also mentally and emotionally."
Ā
Two weeks ago, the Eagles slipped ahead to a 4-3 win over the Trojans in Atlanta, with all four points coming from singles competition.
Ā
"When we came across them a couple of weeks ago, we learned a lot about ourselves as a team and all that we are capable of accomplishing," Stanford said. "It was an extremely competitive match, and we are expecting the competition to be even higherĀ tomorrow. We are looking forward to a great start in our tournament weekend!"
Ā
The quarterfinal match begins at 9 a.m. ET and the winner advances to play either UL Monroe or top-seeded Georgia State on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.
Ā
"This is the week we have been training for all season, and our girls are very excited about the opportunity we have ahead of us."
