STATESBORO, Ga. – With plenty of time to rejuvenate, the 7-3 Georgia Southern women's tennis teams gears up for a big weekend, facing Southern Miss on Friday and UNC Greensville on Sunday. Once again, the Eagles host, as they have for the past two matches. Their last outings were against Nicholls State back on Feb. 26 and Stetson last Tuesday.

"As a whole, we have been playing some very strong tennis over the past couple of matches," head coach Michele Stanford said. "We are planning to keep that momentum moving forward into our two matches this weekend."

As the home team, the Eagles have gone 3-1, sporting a two-match streak at the Wallis Tennis Center. During the last match, the doubles point lifted the team to a 4-3 victory over Stetson and marked the sixth match out of eight that the Eagles have clinched the 1-0 advantage moving into singles.

"Both Southern Miss and UNCG are tough teams to beat, but our girls have been playing some great tennis, and I know that they are ready for the battle," Stanford said.

Southern Miss holds an 8-2 record, starting off the season with seven straight wins—the first of four coming from shutouts.

The Spartans, who are 6-5, come off of a five match home stand where they won three of the five.

Friday's match against the Golden Eagles starts at 2 p.m. while Sunday's match against UNCG starts at 10 a.m. at the Wallis Tennis Complex.
