STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Women's Tennis head coach
Michele Stanford will enter her third season at the helm of the program posting a 22-17 record in her first two seasons. The 2017 regular-season schedule features 21 matches with nine of them being home contests.

"We are very excited about our schedule this year," said head coach
Michele Stanford. "Early on in the season, we will be competing against some very tough non-conference teams in hopes of preparing us to play our best tennis at the end of the year. The Sun Belt Conference has always provided tough competition, and I have no doubts that this year will be just the same. Overall, we have high expectations to move our program forward this season, and I am confident that the girls will be ready for the challenges ahead."

Of the 21 opponents the Eagles will face this season two teams that played in the NCAA Tournament and one that played in the NAIA Tournament during the 2016 season. Georgia Tech was eliminated in the third round of the tournament by Ohio State 4-2, while Georgia State was eliminated in the first round by Syracuse 4-3. SCAD would advance to the NAIA semifinals before being ousted by Georgia Gwinnett, who would go on to win the tournament.

Georgia Southern will open up the 2017 season at the friendly confines of Wallis Tennis Center on January 21
st against SCAD. This will be the first of three home matches to open the season. The Eagles will take on Alabama State and Presbyterian College to close the home stand.

During the month of February the Eagles will be on the road for five of their six scheduled matches. They will start the month on the road against Stetson on February 4
th and UCF on February 5
th. The team will return home for a one match home stand against Savannah State on February 9
th, before heading to Georgia Tech, UNC-Greensboro, and North Carolina A&T.

March is friendlier for the Eagles with half of their matches being at home in Statesboro. On March 3
rd they will face off against Bethune-Cookman and then turn around and host Kennesaw State on March 5
th. From March 13
th until March 16
th the Eagles will be taking a tour of Florida beginning with Florida Gulf Coast on March 13
th and moving to Florida International University on the 15
th and Florida Atlantic University on the 16
th.

Georgia Southern will open up Sun Belt play at home on March 25
th and 26
th with matches against South Alabama and Georgia State. These will be the first two of five Sun Belt matches played this season. Following a quick trip to Jackson State on March 31
st the Eagles will finish Sun Belt play on the road against ULM, Troy, and Appalachian State.

The final match of the regular season and Senior Day for the women's tennis team will be held on April 12
th against College of Charleston. The 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championships will be held from April 20
th until the 23
rd in New Orleans, Louisiana, on the City Park Tennis Courts.
