Volleyball Wraps Up Three-Game Homestand Tuesday

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Volleyball team (11-10, 3-2) wraps up a three-game homestand Tuesday against Davidson at 6 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles currently sit in third place in the South Division but are a game back in the loss column of Furman and the College of Charleston who are tied for first place with a 5-1 SoCon record.

GSU is looking to rebound from a 3-1 loss to Appalachian State on Saturday. The loss snapped a nine-game home winning streak which stretched back to August 26th. The Eagles had three players record 10 kills and hit .253 as a team but could not get over the hump, falling 26-24, 25-23, 17-25, 25-23 to the Mountaineers. GSU fought hard pulling to within one point in all three sets they lost. The Eagles hit .321 in the third set but were held below .300 in the other three sets.

The Georgia Southern defense ranks third in the Southern Conference with 15.97 digs per set. The Eagles have amassed 1214 digs on the season and are led by Lauren LaRocque (Frisco, Texas), who averages just under four digs a set.

Davidson opened conference play with a 2-1 record but dropped two-straight contests to Charleston and Western Carolina. The Wildcats currently stand at 12-6 overall and 2-3 in the SoCon.

Davidson's offense is third in the conference with a .239 hitting percentage, while their defense ranks third in opponent hitting percentage. Tindall Sewell leads the Southern Conference with a .444 hitting percentage, while Caroline Brown is atop the kills board with 260 this season.
