Volleyball to Participate in Dig for the Cure
“Anytime you have the opportunity to raise awareness it's a positive thing,” says head coach Chad Callihan. “One of the nice things about this particular foundation is that monies raised will go directly back to our region to aid with testing and mammograms and things of that nature so it's nice to see the money benefiting our local community. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to raise some good money.”
This is the first year that Georgia Southern is participating in Dig for the Cure, so everyone is encouraged to come out and make the night a big success. Eagle Sports Marketing representatives will be accepting donations, and all proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Fund.
“Having a great connection with the SoCon after coaching at Davidson for seven years, I challenged the coaches in the conference who were already participating in Dig for the Cure to get the rest of the league involved,” Dig for the Cure founder and former Davidson volleyball coach Lisa Marston said. “I am so proud to have the Southern Conference joining in the effort and know that the teams will put forth a tremendous fundraising effort that will in turn create much needed awareness about breast cancer.”
