Van Dyke Named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern's Kate Van Dyke has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Wednesday. The junior led the Eagles to two wins last week with a pair of 49 assist performances.

Van Dyke recorded her best three-set assist performance in a 3-0 sweep of Davidson Monday evening.  The junior setter is second in the league in assists, averaging 10.69 per set. The Shawnee, Kan., native sports a 3.69 GPA in Psychology and posted a perfect 4.0 last spring.

Georgia Southern Volleyball concludes the 2011 regular season this weekend when they travel to South Carolina for a pair of Southern Conference road matches. The Eagles play at Furman on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. before traveling to Wofford for a 6 p.m. match on Saturday.
