Head Volleyball Coach Nicole McCray Resigns
McCray completed her second season in 2007 and compiled an overall record of 24-35 (.407) and 14-22 (.389) in the Southern Conference.
In her first season in 2006 she guided the Eagles to a 14-14 mark and a 7-11 record in the SoCon, good for ninth place in the league standings. Georgia Southern began the season with four straight wins and advanced to the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament.
With nine new players on the roster this season, GSU slipped to 10-21 and 7-11 in the conference. The eighth-seeded Eagles were eliminated in the first round of the SoCon Tournament by eventual champion College of Charleston. It was the first losing season for the program since 2000.
“I thank Nicole for the work that she has done in her time as volleyball coach," said Baker. "We wish her well in her future endeavors."
Baker said a national search will begin immediately.
