Eagles Earn Four Spots on SoCon Volleyball Honor Lists

 SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference today announced the selections for the 2010 Volleyball All-Conference First and Second Team and All-Freshman Team. Individual accolades were also announced. The league's 12 coaches used a point system to rank the top performers to determine placement for first and second team honorees.

Georgia Southern earned four all-conference selections with two first-team, a second-team and an all-freshman selection.  Junior middle hitter Parker Small (Charlotte, N.C.) and sophomore setter Kate Van Dyke (Shawnee, Kan.) were named first team all-conference and junior outside hitter Bethany Sanford (Avondale, Ariz.) garnered second team honors. Middle hitter Enjoli Johnson (Lilburn, Ga.) was named to the all-freshman team for the Eagles.

The Southern Conference Volleyball Championship begins Friday at the Holmes Convocation Center on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. The eight teams competing for the SoCon title are Appalachian State, College of Charleston, Davidson, Elon, Furman, Georgia Southern, UNCG and Samford. The championship match will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.
