Bethany Sanford Named to SoCon All-Freshman Team
Sanford, a native of Avondale, Ariz. (Ironwood HS), leads the Eagles in kills (391), kills per set (3.43) and attacks (1,162) and is second in aces (22) and digs per set (2.92).
Her kills average leads all freshmen and is second-best in the league, behind only player of the year Ashley Adams of Samford.
Sanford has the top four and seven of the top 10 kill totals by a GSU player this season. She posted a team-best 20 at Auburn on Sept. 6. She has recorded 16 double-doubles, including six in a row at the beginning of September.
She has helped the Eagles to their most wins (16 and counting) since 2005. Georgia Southern, the third seed out of the South Division, face host UNC Greensboro (No. 2 North) in the first round of the SoCon Tournament Friday night at 7 p.m.
