Track & Field Completes Carolina Invitational with First Place Finish in the Long Jump

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Track & Field picked up their first event win of the indoor season at the Carolina Invitational Friday.

Georgia Southern picked up a first place finish in the long jump invitational. Lynndsey Hyter (Dallas, Texas) finished first with a mark of 5.97 meters.

Millicent Brooks-Millender (Douglasville, Ga.) finished third in the triple jump invitational with a mark of 11.35 meters.

 

Amanda Spivy (Pembroke, Ga.) placed sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.45 meters.

 

Demetrise Anthony (Manchester, Ga.) improved on her prelim time and finished 12th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.89.

 

Courtney Ware (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished 34th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.32.

 

Ashley Bush-Hardy (Fayetteville, Ga.) pulled in a top-20 finish in the 400 meter dash. She finished in 17th place with a time of 59.85.

 

Morgan Jefferson (Villa Rica, Ga.) and Shauntel Jennings (Stone Mountain, Ga.) both finished in the top-20 in the 800 meter run. Jefferson came in 13th place with a time of 2:24.20, and Jennings finished 16th with a time of 2:24.43.

 

Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) placed 22nd in the one mile run. She finished with a time of 5:25.41.

 

Kassi Lee (Elberton, Ga.) finished 28th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:29.55.

 

Hyter qualified for the 60 meter hurdles finals with a time of 9.10. She finished 12th in the finals with a time of 9.14.

 

Georgia Southern’s 4x400 meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 3:57.60.

 

Jasmine Lightning (Dacula, Ga.) finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.63 meters.

 

The Lady Eagles return to action at the Clemson Invitational Friday.
