Another School Record Falls in Florida Relays Finale

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Georgia Southern track & field team completed the Florida Relays in fine fashion by breaking school records and season highs. The Eagles set a new school record in the 1600 sprint medley.

Georgia Southern set a new school record with a 13th place finish in the 1600 sprint medley with a time of 4:02.47.

"I was really proud of our team," said head coach Natalie Smith. "We had a great showing breaking multiple school records."

The Eagles' 4x100 meter relay team bettered their season high with a time of 47.44.

Georgia Southern continued their relay success in the 4x400 meter relay, bettering their season best time. The relay team finished 19th in the Florida Relays with a time of 3:45.80.

The Eagles had their best relay with a seventh place finish in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9:08.54.

Melanie Trumbo (Lilburn, Ga.) surpassed her season high Javelin mark by four meters. The Southern Conference Field Athlete of the Week finished 12th with a mark of 36.91 meters.

Kassi Lee (Elberton, Ga.) finished 25th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:43.09.

Track & field returns to action April 18th at the Auburn Invitational.
