Trumbo Named Field Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Melanie Trumbo (Lilburn, Ga.) was named SoCon Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the War Eagle Invitational this past Saturday.

Trumbo won the high jump and tied her regional qualifying mark of 1.75 meters from the Florida Relays. Trumbo continued her fine day with a sixth place finish in the javelin throw. She recorded a mark of 40.07 meters which ranks first in the SoCon. The award is Trumbo’s second of the season.

Trumbo and the rest of the Georgia Southern track & field team will be in action this weekend at the 2009 SoCon Outdoor Championships.
