Track & Field Concludes day one at the Florida Pepsi Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Georgia Southern track & field team concluded the first day of competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays on Friday, at the Percy Beard Track at the University of Florida.

The Eagles had several athletes compete in the highly-competitive field that included some of the nation’s elite track & field squads.

Sophomore Melanie Trumbo (Lilburn, Ga.) tied for third place in the “Section B” high jump with a mark of 5’03.00”. Teammate Shaunta Hamilton (Macon, Ga.) continued her dominance in the “Section B” long jump earning a second place finish leaping a distance of 19’06.25”.

In the shot put, senior Jennifer Charles (Green Cove Springs, Fla.) finished second posting a throw of 44’07.00”.

GSU will conclude the Pepsi Florida Relays on Saturday at the Percy Beard Track. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
