Statesboro, Ga. - The Women’s Tennis is set to participate in their second fall tournament of the season.

Sophomores, Ali Beavers (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Melanie Rolle (Gainesville, Fla.) will be participating in their first matches of the year.

Beavers and Rolle last year in their freshman campaign, had a dual doubles record of 13-4.

Beavers finished last season with a 15-6 dual record, which led the team.

Rolle went 11-8 and finished second on the team in wins.

“I'm excited to see Melanie and Ali back in action,” said Coach Bonner.

Participating in their second tournament is Molly Maddox (Rome, Ga.) and Kristi Kegerreis (Fairfax, Va.).

Kegerreis won the A draw at last week’s Brevard Mountain Invitational by defeating Jenny Gomez from Gardner-Webb 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Maddox combined with Shea Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla.) to win the A draw finals match 8-6 over Amanda Bartlett and Liz Sneed of Carson-Newman.

“I am looking for Molly and Kristi to bring their strong experience from last weekend to this tournament as well,” said Coach Bonner.

The three day Thomasville Invitational starts Friday and goes through Sunday in Thomasville, Ga.

“We are looking forward to competing this weekend in Thomasville. It’s a tournament we have never attended and we will be playing against some good competition,” said Coach Bonner.
