Women?s Tennis Returns to Action at Kennesaw State Invitational

Kennesaw, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Women's Tennis team returns to the courts on Friday, September 15 at 9 a.m. for the second annual Kennesaw State Invitational. The three-day tournament is the second competition of the fall season for the Eagles, who captured two of three titles at last week's UNC Asheville Bulldog Open.

"We are looking to take our experience from last week with us to Kennesaw," said Head Coach Amy Bonner. "We worked hard this week on executing and finishing off points and on doubles strategies and new partnerships for the upcoming tournament."

The Eagles will try to match the strong showing last weekend in Asheville, where Ali Beeler (Alpharetta, Ga.) won the main draw of her singles flight and the tandem of Natalie Maffett (Rome, Ga.) and Alexis Prickett (Charleston, S.C.) won the doubles flight. Sophomore Paola Garrido (Vigo, Spain) earned a runner-up finish in the other singles flight of the weekend.

Other schools competing this weekend include Kennesaw State, Florida A&M and Augusta State.

"I've been pleased with the efforts of the team both with their intensity and enthusiasm for competing again this weekend," said Bonner.
