Kegerreis Named SoCon Player of the Week
“Kristi has been a great contributor to this program for going on four years now,” said head coach Amy Bonner. “Kristi has been a leader for our team on and off the court and it’s so great that she is being recognized for it. Our team looks up to her and its so rewarding to see a senior have such a great weekend of competition.”
Kegerreis (Fairfax, Va.) improved to 9-3 in singles play this spring with three victories last week. She topped Wofford’s Lindsay Larkin, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over UNC Greensboro’s Mikayla Rogers. The senior from Fairfax, Va., moved up to No. 3 singles Saturday afternoon and downed Bethune-Cookman’s Stacey Lopez, 7-6, 6-2. Kegerreis has won her last four consecutive singles matches.
Paired with Christine Caforio in doubles play, the Eagles’ tandem earned an 8-2 decision over Wofford’s Stephanie Cox and Lucy Schermerhorn at No. 3 doubles. Kegerreis and Caforio won, 8-5 over UNCG’s Valerie Behr and Mikayla Rogers before claiming a victory in non-conference play against Bethune-Cookman. Kegerreis is 5-0 in doubles competition when paired with Caforio.
The Eagles return to the courts Saturday (March 20) when they host Furman.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included College of Charleston’s Emma Hayman, Elon’s Anna Milian, Furman’s Monica Arguello, Samford’s Taylor Morgan and Chattanooga’s Grace Robinette.
