Swimming & Diving Team Honored with All-American Status
STATESBORO, Ga. The Georgia Southern swimming and diving team was selected as a Division I Academic All-American swim team according to statistics compiled by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The University of South Carolina earned the top spot with a 3.606 GPA, barely nudging out Iona (3.580). Georgia Southern picked up All-American honors with a team GPA of 2.980.
"I am very proud of our swimmers and divers,” said GSU head coach Nathan Kellogg. “This is what being a student-athlete is all about. It is a great achievement and we are working hard to continue this trend."
In all, 111 Division I women’s teams earned Academic All-American honors. Nine had GPAs of 3.50 or better.
