Ali Campbell Tabbed as CCSA Swimmer of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Sophomore Ali Campbell (Alberta, Canada) was selected as the CCSA Swimmer of the Week for the week of October 22nd.

Campbell had an outstanding meet last Saturday against SCAD and the College of Charleston and helped the Lady Eagles improve their record to 3-1.

Campbell won or helped win three events and set a new school record in the 1000 yard freestyle last Saturday. She bettered the previous Georgia Southern record of 10:34.35 by eight seconds. Campbell placed first in the event with a time of 10:26.05.

She also won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.04 and was a member of the winning 200 yard freestyle relay team.

"Ali had a great meet breaking a school record in the 1,000 Free, then stepping up the very next event and winning the 200 Free," said Head Coach Nathan Kellogg. She was pretty much spent after that, but raced well in the 500 Free. Then she swam the fastest split in our 200 Free Relay. She had a tremendous day."

Campbell also swam the 500 yard freestyle and placed second with a time of 5:10.60.

Also nominated for women's Swimmer of the Week:  Heidi Shallow (Campbell), Sara Gardocki (College of Charleston), Rachael Rein (FGCU) and Alexa Sears (Radford).

The Lady Eagles return to the pool November the 14th in Boiling Springs, N.C. against Gardner-Webb.
