Miles Named SoCon Pitcher of the Week
STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern freshman pitcher Allie Miles (Dacula, Ga.) has been named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced on Monday (April 4th) by the league office. The right-handed hurler scored a 1-0 record last week and held opposing batters to a .127 average in three appearances.
Miles opened the week against Jacksonville throwing five and a third innings of no-hit ball with five strikeouts. She picked up the victory in game one of the weekend series against Samford with a complete game. Miles allowed just one run and scattered five hits.
In Sunday's (April 3rd) series finale, she worked three and a third innings and struck out six batters including three-straight to retire the Samford side in the ninth inning. She was charged with just one earned run to finish the week with a 0.89 ERA.
The Eagles close a seven-game homestand on Tuesday (April 5th) against Kennesaw State at Eagle Field. The afternoon doubleheader starts at 3 p.m.
