Eagle Softball Takes Second Game from Cougars
STATESBORO, Ga. (Georgia Southern) - The Georgia Southern softball team bounced back from a 7-4 extra-inning loss in game one to take game two 3-1 over College of Charleston on a rain-soaked Eagle Field Saturday (April 24).
The Eagles (23-23, 8-8 Southern Conference) took their first lead of the day in the bottom of the first inning of game two when senior Jenny Side (Loganville, Ga.) reached on an error, allowing Sophomore Marie Fogle (Rincon, Ga.) to score from third.
The Eagles added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-RBI single by junior Megen Smith (Springfield, Ga.), scoring Fogle and freshman Sara Hinchman (Douglasville, Ga.). College of Charleston (21-21, 8-8 SoCon) scored one in the top of the sixth before junior Brianna Streetmon (Winder, Ga.) came in to close the door.

The Eagles loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth with two outs, and freshman Tabby Douberley (Clyo, Ga.) brought the crowd to their feet with a deep drive to left-center, but leftfielder Amanda Lonergan caught it on the warning track to end the game.
The Cougars struck first in the top of the first inning on an RBI-triple by Lonergan, and held the lead until the Eagles tied it in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI-single by Smith scoring senior Nina Iduate (Norcross, Ga.). Charleston plated three unearned runs in the top of the sixth, including two on a home run by Dillon, to retake the lead.
