Softball's Doubleheader with #8 Georgia Changed to a Single Game

STATESBORO, Ga. - The doubleheader originally scheduled between Georgia Southern and #8 Georgia has been changed to a single game. The Dogs requested the change due to extenuating circumstances.

The Eagles will play their final non-conference game Wednesday at 5 p.m. inside the Georgia Softball Stadium in Athens, Ga.

GSU is coming off a disappointing series loss to Chattanooga but kept their second place hopes alive with a 1-0 win on Sunday.

The Dogs defeated #15 Tennessee twice on senior day last Saturday but dropped the series finale 6-3.

The match up with #8 Georgia will be the first time the Eagles have faced a ranked team since the 2006 NCAA Regional. GSU lost 11-6 in an elimination game against then #8 Georgia. The Eagles have a recent win against a ranked opponent when in 2005 they defeated #10 Florida State 1-0.

Softball will return home for their final home series of the year against Furman and will honor their seniors on Saturday.
