Women's Soccer Announces 2011 Schedule
STATESBORO, Ga. - A new era dawns this fall as Head Coach Lindsey Vanderspiegel takes charge of the Georgia Southern Women's Soccer program for the 2011 season. The challenging 2011 slate of games features 11 Southern Conference fixtures and seven home games at Eagle Field. Vanderspiegel's debut match as Head Coach of the Georgia Southern Eagles will be on Friday, August 19th, at Winthrop.
"The team had an extremely productive spring season that will prepare us for the fall," said Vanderspiegel. "Our team has done well with the transition and understanding our expectations. We are looking forward to what will be a competitive fall season.."
Vanderspiegel's Eagles will play one tune-up match, against North Florida at Eagle Field on Friday, August 12th, prior to the start of the regular season. Georgia Southern travels to Winthrop for the season opener on August 19th before returning home, to play host to Mercer on August 25th. The 2011 home opener will pit the Eagles against the 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference Champions who lost seven seniors from last year's squad.

The road swing concludes with trips to Georgia State and Charleston Southern the following weekend. The Eagles face the Panthers on Friday, September 9th, and travel to North Charleston on Sunday, September 11th, for the game against the Buccaneers.
Georgia Southern returns home five days later against USC Upstate. The final non-conference game of the season starts at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 16th.
SoCon play begins with a two-game tour of South Carolina's Upstate on September 23rd and 25th. The weekend trip begins on Friday night at Wofford and concludes with a Sunday matinee against the Furman Paladins.
The Eagles close out the month of September with a four-match homestand which gets underway against defending SoCon Champion UNC Greensboro on September 30th. The run of games at home continues with dates against Elon (October 2nd), Western Carolina (October 7th) and Appalachian State (October 9th).
A trip to The Citadel takes Georgia Southern away from Eagle Field on Thursday, October 13th, before the Eagles return home against College of Charleston on October 16th for the home finale. Three road games wrap up the regular season with Georgia Southern traveling to Chattanooga (October 21st), Samford (October 23rd) and Davidson (October 26th).
