Women's Soccer to Clash with Georgia State

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern women’s soccer squad will look for its first win of the young season as it plays the last of a three-game road trip at Georgia State, Sunday at 1 p.m.

 

The Eagles are coming off a valiant performance at a tough Samford Tournament (Aug. 31, Sep. 2), falling to four-time Ohio Valley Conference defending champion Samford (1-0) and Southeastern Conference memberMississippiState(2-1).

 

The Eagles (0-2-0) and the Panthers (3-1-0) have previously met on 12 occasions with the Panthers taking the last game in 2006 by a 1-0 margin in Statesboro.  Going into Sunday’s match, the series is tied at 5-5-2.

 

Head coach Ashley Hart, in her fourth year at the helm of the Eagles, will seek her first win againstGeorgiaState as she holds a 0-2-1 record versus the Panthers.

 

GeorgiaStatereturns seven starters and 12 letterwinners from the 2006 squad.  Eighth-year head coach Domenic Martelli led the Panthers to a 5-12-3 record last year.
