Women's Soccer Defeats North Georgia 2-0

STATESBORO, Ga.– Georgia Southern traveled to Dahlonega and defeated North Georgia 2-0 in exhibition play, Sunday.

Georgia Southern got on the board in the 21st minute, when Danae Kaimuloa (Escondido, Calif.) scored off a pass from Abby Wheeler (Bozeman, Mont.).

Candace Marshall (Bridgewater, Mass.) put the game out of reach in the 87th minute. Marshall picked up a loss ball and was able to get it past the goalie.

“Overall I thought our team played well.  We started a little slow but finished the first half well.   We saw some good things from many of our players.  I thought several of our freshman also stepped up in critical roles for us.  We still have a few things to work on but overall I was pleased our effort. Exhibition games are a great chance to see exactly where we are as a team.  Overall a good start to the season,” said Coach Hart.

The Eagles showed good defense by shutting out North Georgia on the road.

“Our girls have worked really hard.  I feel like we are well prepared going into the start of the season.  Players have stepped up where we have needed them to and I feel like we have a strong team this year,” said Coach Hart.

Georgia Southern returns to action Friday with a 7:00 pm exhibition match at Gardner-Webb.

Coach Hart’s had this to say about the Eagles’ next game, “Gardner Webb will be a good test for us. They are a well coached team that will challenge us to be at our best.”
