Cross Country Picked 11th In SoCon's Coaches Poll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Georgia Southern Cross Country team was picked to finish 11th in the preseason SoCon Coaches' Poll.

Returning to this year's team is senior, Shauntel Jennings (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and Junior, Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.). 

Jennings was one of the top three runners in the fall for GSU. She finished second to former teammate Abby Bloom in three out of six meets during her first collegiate cross country season. Ran a personal record time of 19:56.69 at the Auburn Invitational and posted a time of 20:18.36 at the Southern Conference Championships.

Fuller was the second Eagle runner to cross the finish line in three of six meets. Her top finish of the season was 19:39.59 at the Auburn Invitational. Fuller's second best time of the season was at the Bulldog Stampede in Athens, Ga. where she finished in 20:51.78.

The Chattanooga women's team have been selected by the conference coaches to win the 2008 Southern Conference Cross Country Championship. They return 10 runners from last year's coference championship team.

The 2008 SoCon Cross Country Championships will be held November 1, in Spartanburg, S.C. at the Milliken Park.

Note: Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team in the preseason ballot.
