Eagle Cross Country Heads to College of Charleston Invite
Rebecca Greenwell (Athens, Ga.) set the pace for the Eagles last week, breaking into Georgia Southern's all-time top 10 best times for the 5K with a time of 19:08:11 in her first collegiate competition. Junior Sara Curry (Lawrenceville, Ga.) crossed the line in 12th place (19:33.93) and freshman twin sister Rachel Greenwall (Athens, Ga.) posted a time of 20:03.73, which placed her 20th.
Senior Brittani Martin (Alpharetta, Ga.) and freshman Megan Sullivan (Huntersville, N.C.) finished 32nd and 34th, respectively to round out the top 5 finishers for the Eagles.
Head Coach Marlo Mincey was pleased with last week's showing and the efforts of her young squad. "It was a good opener for our team and our freshmen really contributed with three of our top five times," said Mincey.
This week's race in Charleston is a preview of the Southern Conference Championship which will be hosted by the College of Charleston in October. "Charleston is our conference course," said Mincey. "It's important that we execute our individual and team race plans this weekend."
