Cross Country Competes at Southern Conference Championships

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Georgia Southern cross country team finished in 10th place at the Southern Conference Championships, which was hosted by Western Carolina on Saturday in Cullowhee, N.C.

Chattanooga reeled off their second consecutive conference title edging out Davidson 44 to 53. The Eagles finished with a score of 311 and an average mile time of 21:09.35.

Senior Abby Bloom (Snellville, Ga.) was the first Eagle runner to cross the finish line coming in 31st place with a time of 19:13.39. Bloom continued her impressive streak as she has crossed the finish line in six consecutive meets before any other Eagle runner.

Junior Shauntel Jennings (Stone Mountain, Ga.) was the second Georgia Southern runner to finish the meet as she crossed the finish line in 20:18.36 and in 67th place. Sophomore Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) sprinted across the finish with a time of 21:37.86.

Caitlin Coakley (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was right behind Fuller finishing just three spots behind with a time of 22:11.09.

Georgia Southern concludes the season, Saturday, November 10 at the South Region Championships in Louisville, Ky.
