Lady Eagles Open Doubleheader with Wofford

STATESBORO, Ga. - After a pair of non-conference games, the Georgia Southern Lady Eagles return to Southern Conference play against Wofford. Tip-off for the first game of Monday's doubleheader is set for 5 p.m. As a part of Dollar Days, tickets for the game are just one dollar.

Georgia Southern (4-8, 0-2) has won two-straight games, their first back-to-back wins this season, after a 75-40 victory over Southern Wesleyan. The Lady Eagles recorded their first positive turnover margin in the win over Jacksonville and tallied a season-low nine turnovers in the victory over the Warriors. GSU hopes the trend continues because turnovers have proved costly this season. The Lady Eagles' opponents have scored 24.6 points off of turnovers in the team's eight losses.

After a slow start to the season, in which MiMi DuBose (Jefferson, Ga.) reached double figures just once in the first five games, she has scored 10 or more points in five of the last seven contests. She is currently second on the team with 8.7 points per game and is averaging 9.6 points a game during the seven-game span. Meredyth Frye (Fredricksburg, Va.), who scored her 600th point in the win over Southern Wesleyan, leads the team with 10.3 points per game.

Wofford (8-4, 1-2) opened the season with the best start in school history but is just 2-4 following the 6-0 start. The Terriers lost their first game at the College of Charleston on December 5th and dropped three-straight before winning two out of their last three contests. Wofford defeated North Carolina A&T 68-61 back before the Holiday break behind career-highs from April Moorhouse and Erin Frost.

The Terriers lead the SoCon in scoring defense and allow their opponents just 55.8 points per game. Wofford is led on offense by Morgan Wrightson's 11.9 points per game. Wrightson is one of five Terriers who has scored 100 points this season and all five are averaging 8.5 points per game or more. Moorhouse powers Wofford's rebounding efforts, which rank fourth in the SoCon, with 7.1 a contest.
