Eagles Hit the Road for Five Matches Beginning at South Alabama
Georgia Southern enters Sunday’s match boasting a 5-2 overall record and 1-0 conference mark. The Eagles opened conference play against Appalachian State (March 6), taking a 5-2 decision. Georgia Southern jumped out to the early advantage securing the doubles point for the sixth time this season and won four of six singles matches en route to the conference win. The Eagles boast a 28-14 overall dual singles mark and a 14-7 doubles ledger thus far in the season.
The Eagles will kick off this road stretch with a visit to nationally-ranked South Alabama. The No.75 Jaguars are 6-7 this season and 1-1 in the Sun Belt. The Jags just wrapped up the H-E-B Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, TX, going 1-2. UAB dropped 4-0 decisions to Texas Tech and New Mexico, most recently. The Jags are led by No. 47 Sergio Ramirez and No. 73 Leo Dominguez/Sergio Ramirez in doubles.
Georgia Southern will return to conference action on Tuesday (March 17) facing Samford. The Bulldogs (2-9) will host Murray State and Gadsden State before the Eagles on Tuesday. Samford has dropped its last two matches to conference foes Elon and UNC Greensboro by 6-1 and 5-2 decisions, respectively.
The Alabama trip will wrap up on Wednesday with a visit to UAB. The UAB Blazers are currently 5-6 on the season and will face off against Santa Clara in California on Saturday before welcoming the Eagles to Birmingham.
First serve at South Alabama is slated for 10 a.m. in Mobile (CT). Match times are set for 2 p.m. against Samford and UAB.
