Men?s Tennis Set to Begin Fall Schedule on Friday

Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team returns to the courts on Friday, September 23 as they begin the fall part of their 2011-12 schedule at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga. Participants from 26 schools will converge on the Dan Magill Tennis Complex to compete in the oldest fall college tennis tournament in America.

The Eagles have been hard at work preparing for the fall schedule and the hours put in over the summer have enabled the team to build some momentum heading into their first match.

"We've trained really hard this fall," said Head Coach Nick Zieziula. "With six new additions to the roster there has been great energy and enthusiasm in our practice and conditioning sessions."

The six newcomers join five returners for the new season and the fall schedule will allow the team to experiment with some different strategies and tactics, while mixing up player combinations in both singles and doubles play.

"This first tournament is a great opportunity for us to compete against some of the best programs in the country," said Zieziula. "Using these tournaments to develop our game and prepare for the spring schedule will determine how successful we can be."
